Former Deputy Principal and lifelong Bermuda science educator. 18+ years turning the island's cave and marine environments into extraordinary classrooms.

About the Institute

Focused. Engaging. Unforgettable.

Students explore marine and cave environments and use real-world data to solve authentic problems. They measure, observe, argue with evidence, and present what they find — working alongside real scientists in one of the most extraordinary natural classrooms on Earth.

Real Cave Environments

Limestone caves and marine ecosystems — not a classroom simulation

IB-Aligned Math & Science

Math and science concepts applied to real observations and data

Confidence Through Discovery

Students leave knowing they can tackle hard problems — and enjoy it

Real Bermudian Experts

Work with Mr. Tim (scientist) and Dr. Lou (mathematician) all week

The Hope Project

Every student investigates a real condition in Bermuda's cave ecosystem — collecting data, analyzing patterns, and building a data-driven explanation. On Friday, they present their findings to families.

1
ObserveChoose a phenomenon in the cave or marine environment
2
MeasureCollect real data across multiple field days
3
AnalyzeFind patterns and reason mathematically
4
PresentShare findings on Friday, July 10

Questions

Frequently Asked

Both — fully integrated. Students use math tools (measurement, data, statistics) to answer science questions about caves, marine life, and environmental change.
Each student investigates a real condition in Bermuda's cave or marine environment. They collect field data, analyze it, and present a structured scientific explanation to families on Friday, July 10.
The program is designed for this developmental stage. Students this age are ready to think in patterns, build arguments, and take on real intellectual challenges in small-group field settings.
All five days of instruction, field equipment and materials, Hope Project support, and the Friday family presentation. Does not include travel or accommodation. Contact us for accommodation recommendations.
After submitting the registration form, you'll be taken directly to the payment page. A $50 nonrefundable deposit secures your student's seat; the balance is due by June 19, 2026.
The Summer Institute is a program of InspireMath Academy, founded by Dr. Lou Matthews. The Academy is dedicated to high-quality, relevant, joyful math and science learning.
